Zhuang Xiaowei
Artist Statement
Zhuang Xiaowei established the first glass studio in China. After obtaining his master’s degree in glass art from Wolverhampton University in the UK, he returned to China in 2000, bringing back new ideas to infuse a traditional art form. Zhuang is a leader in the studio glass movement in China, and his works have been exhibited in China, Hong Kong, Great Britain, the United States and Germany as part of public and private collections.
Zhuang was appointed the Curator of the Glass Museum of Shanghai in 2008. He is also a key member of the International Council of Museums’ Glass Committee.
