Artist Statement
“As one of the most beautiful and perfect gifts nature presents plants have given artists inspiration and excitement to create art. What American art critique Lucy Lippard once said influenced me greatly, ‘Nature is considered relaxing. We don’t have to think about it or “appreciate” it, we can just enjoy it.’ It is not with judgment but with gratefulness that I understand the simple elements of plants such as wrinkles, layers, and holes. The clay itself has showed how perfectly the fire presents the beauty of the materials. I have found my purpose in creating ceramic art.”
