Wang Qin is a talented young artist who recently graduated with his master¡¯s degree in glass. He is currently teaching at the glass studio of the Fine Arts College of Shanghai University. Wang studied ceramics at the Jing De Zhen Ceramic Institute, and the sensitive touch from his clay techniques carries over to his glass work. The materials¡¯ rich textures create a warm sense of his personal touch; a serene state of mind is seen through the transparency of glass. The beauty of traditional calligraphy and the desire for a peaceful state of mind are communicated through his series ¡°Calligraphy or Not?¡± and ¡°Summer Sitting.¡± Simple black colors mixed and mingled with clear glass create landscapes and patterns that are abstract and enticing.
